My Progress

I'm 150km this month to leave MS behind

My Progress

My Target

150km

Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K. I will be taking on 50km throughout May and leaving my limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis, better access to treatments and to support people living with MS in Ireland!

I was diagnosed with MS in 2011, I have been living with MS for 10 years! MS effects every person differently, I have been very fortunate and was diagnosed early  and I am taking medication that works for me. For me,  the most difficult thing was accepting my MS diagnosis and what this might mean. MS Ireland offered me support in my darkest times. The work they do really helped me.

You can now support this work in Ireland and around the world, so I’ve accepted The May 50K challenge to change lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge.

Thank you so much!

My Updates

Finished

150K later, €5.523 later my May 50k challenge is complete. In March I decided to complete this challenge and raise €500. My challenge is complete and I have managed to raise 10 times that amount. Hopefully I have also raised some awareness about MS and the many different ways it can present.
10 years ago, doing something like this would have been my worst nightmare. Today I feel proud of myself, metally and physically. Thank you to each and every person that has sponsored me, your kindness and support has been breath taking.
Thank you x

Final leg of the journey

Nearly there, only about 30k to go! Feeling so grateful for all the support and encouragement xxx

11 days to go

Only 11 days to go. So far I have enjoyed so many walks with so many lovely people. The weather has been shocking but it hasn’t stopped me. I am over 100k now and only another 5Ok to go.
The support I have received from friends, family, neighbours and colleagues has been amazing. #feeling-grateful

2 weeks to go

So I have walked nearly 80k and I have two weeks to complete my challenge. I am loving this challenge, I think the goal has helped me so much mentally and physically.
During the week I considered increasing my goal to 200k. On Thursday I had a reality check, I completely over did it and exhaustion hit me like a smack in the face. I came home from work, having walked 5k before I started work and lay on the floor exhausted. My son explained to my daughter, ‘Mum is just tired, really tired.
So I guess I just need to be mindful of my limits, while I am really enjoying this I also need to consider that I have two little people ❤️ That need my energy as well.
Maybe I could increase my distance to 150k .....

Ms And me

Morning meds

I am very fortunate and have found meditation that works for me. After three attempts, I have found Gilenya that works with my body and my MS. I am hoping to raise money so that scientists can find other medications for people with MS. Unfortunately they have found great medication but not a cure. Hopefully your very generous donation will help this worthy cause x

19 Day's to go to the May 100K

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me so far. I am clompletely blown away by people's kindness. I have 19 days to go before I start logging my distance.
I plan to walk with a few different people over the month of May, friends and family and I will upload some photos along the way.
Once again, thank you for your support.

100K walk, Decision made

So after some more thought, I am going to walk 100K in May!
This is crazy, I decided to take part in The May 50K as a little challenge for myself, to achknowlege where I am  at after living with MS for 10 years and to help find a cure for this disease. Now with all of the hugely generous donations I have recieved. I feel I need to do more, by hopefully creating awareness that a diagnosis of M.S does not need to be devastating but maybe a readjustment of thinking.
I am a wife, a Mum, a Sister, an Aunty, a Daughter, a Friend , an Employee, a Neighbour and I have M.S. All of these roles are what make me and M.S is just one tiny part of who I am .
Thank you so much for all your kind words of support and extreme generosity. I will make you proud

The May 50K, We are challenging people to walk or run 50 kilometres throughout the month of May to raise funds for life-changing research into MS,

Hello everyone, I need to say I am absolutely blown away by everyone’s generosity. I am currently considering if it would be better to run 50k or walk 100k 😬 I want to challenge myself but I also want to something that is safe and achievable.
Decisions, decisions, I will keep you posted. Thank you 😊
