You might have sponsored me before, perhaps the 970-mile bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats in 2017, or the Brighton Marathon in 2022? 

Did you know I had MS when I completed them? Probably not.

Well ... I do. I've had it since 2006. For a long time I kept it to myself, but that changed last year and so did a lot of other things.

After the Brighton Marathon in 2022 I had an MS relapse, and then another flare in 2025 that left me hobbling and unable to run. I genuinely thought that was it. I started mentally preparing for a life on the sofa with my trusty bag of chips.

Then I discovered the Overcoming MS programme, which taught me that the best thing I could do was get back up. Or more specifically, lace my trainers back up. So I did. I started with slow, painful 5k wobble-runs and built from there. Last Sunday I ran a strong 10k. 

In May, I'm running 50k.

MS is a brutal disease, but there is so much we can do for ourselves, and I want to be proof of that.

I'm an Ambassador for the Overcoming MS charity, but I'm running this challenge for the MS Society because growing awareness and understanding of what MS truly is matters enormously. There are over 2.8 million people living with MS worldwide, and research, better treatments and real support can change and save lives.

P.S. The one downside to Overcoming MS -- apparently crisps are off the menu. The sacrifice is real.
